WEST CHESTER, Pa.- Following a 5-2 win at Kutztown on Wednesday night for its first PSAC East win of the season, the West Chester University women's tennis team (5-13, 1-3) will look to continue its winning ways on Friday as the Golden Rams host Shippensburg (8-11, 1-3) on Friday afternoon at 3:30 p.m.

West Chester got back in the win column with its first PSAC East win of the season on Wednesday night as the Golden Rams went on the road to defeat Kutztown by a 5-2 final. West Chester won second and third doubles as the duos of Gabriella Lerario Dos Santos/

Ashleigh Grooms triumphed by 7-5 and 6-0, respectively. With an early 1-0 lead after doubles,
Delaney Tingle won her first singles match 6-1, 6-4, while Alex Cave took her third singles match 7-6 and 6-4. Manful and Thompson were the first Golden Ram singles victories, capturing their fifth and sixth singles matches by 6-1, 6-2 and 6-0, 6-1 finals to help West Chester earn its first PSAC East win of the season.

After postponing the match in early April due to cold temperatures, high winds, and a threat of rain, conditions look significantly more favorable on Friday afternoon with temperatures climbing to nearly 80 under partly cloudy skies with light wind.

Shippensburg (8-11, 1-3) enters play on Friday following a 5-2 loss at Millersville on Wednesday afternoon, which halted a two-match winning streak that had seen the Raiders vanquish Shepherd and Bowie State at home on April 15 and April 21, respectively. At Millersville, Shippensburg won fifth and sixth singles via walkover to take an early 2-1 lead but was unable to steal two more points, dropping first through fourth singles in straight sets in a 5-2 loss at the hands of the Marauders.
Brooklyn Rupert, Jade Miller, Brinley Orris, and Rachel Gallagher all have seven wins each at 7-10, 7-7, and 7-11 on the year, respectively. Ava Kalist is also 6-1 in singles, playing, including a perfect 3-0 mark at sixth singles.
In doubles action, Kalist and Kendall Winters are 7-6 on the year with a 5-6 mark in third doubles play, while Miller and Brooklyn Rupert are 3-0 at first doubles. Miller has also teamed with Corinne Markovich to go 3-9 at second doubles.
