PUEBLO, Col. – Derrick Lukomski Pizzo (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) was back in action on Friday evening at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field National Championships at Colorado State-Pueblo. Lukomski-Pizzo, the PSAC Discus Champion and WCU program record holder, competed in the discus on Friday night in Colorado. Lukomski-Pizzo finished 17th in the discus with a mark of 161 feet 3 inches (49.14 meters) on Friday night.
Lukomski-Pizzo fouled on each of his first two throws and hit a mark of 161-3 (49.14m) in his third and final attempt of the prelims, hoping this effort would be enough to earn three more attempts and punch his ticket through to the finals on Friday night.
Unfortunately this effort was not enough to earn the senior three more throws as he finished 17
th in his debut at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships.
