SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa.- Derrick Lukomski Pizzo won the discus with a new program record mark of 185 feet 10 inches (56.64 meters) to lead the West Chester University men's track and field squad on Day two of the PSAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships. With the help of Lukomski-Pizzo's crown, West Chester climbed to fifth in the team standings with 16 points after two days of action at Slippery Rock.
Lukomski-Pizzo's title was never truly in question as the senior took the lead with his second throw, but it was his final toss of 185-10, which set a new program record and moved him up the Division II Men's Track and Field Performance list ahead of the selection announcement next week.
Will Rivers took 15
th in the long jump with a mark of 21-6 ¾ (6.57m), while
Sammy Jenkins finished 10
th in the pole vault with a mark of 14-9 ½ (4.51m) to lead the field event squad on day two.
On the track, West Chester punched its ticket to the Saturday finals in the 4x100 relay with a fourth-place prelim finish in 41.32 seconds.
David Burnshaw earned his spot in the Saturday finals in the 400 with a fifth-place finish in 48.80 seconds, while
Amarre Mayo earned his spot in the 100 finals with a sixth-place finish in 10.54 seconds.
Mayo also earned a spot in the 200 finals with a second-place prelim finish in 21.16 seconds, which also served as a Division II provisional time.
