PHILADELPHIA- The Philadelphia Sports Information Directors Association (PhillySIDA) released its softball Academic All-Area squad on Thursday afternoon, and
Danielle Ciliberto (Ambler, Pa./Wissahickon) picked up her second Academic honor of the Spring after earning Collegiate Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors in late May.
The group is selected by votes from 30 four-year institutions within the Philadelphia metropolitan area.
To be considered for Academic All-Area recognition, individuals had to have at least a 3.3 GPA.
Also a First Team All-PSAC East selection, Ciliberto finished the year 18-7 overall with a 1.82 ERA and a .258 opponent's batting average with 104 strikeouts in 165.1 innings of work, including 12 complete games. The junior also picked up three saves as she broke the WCU career save record and moved into the top five in career wins, shutouts, and strikeouts.
At the plate, Ciliberto batted .315 (41-for-130) with five doubles and three triples, driving in 25 runs, while scoring 18 more as she served as the DP when not pitching and retained her spot in the top half of the lineup when in the circle.
