WEST CHESTER, PA – West Chester University's field hockey team meets up with a new opponent on Saturday night at 7 p.m. when seventh-ranked Newberry College comes calling to Vonnie Gros Field.

The Golden Rams, ranked fourth in Division II, is riding a modest two-game winning streak heading into Saturday's showdown. The Wolves come in on the heels of a 4-2 victory over Mansfield University on Friday afternoon in a game that was also played at Vonnie Gros Field. It improved the Wolves' season-opening winning streak to four games without a loss. Saturday's encounter is the second against a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) opponent in as many days.

SCOUTING THE GOLDEN RAMS
Veerle Hersman and Caitlynn Szarko have each stepped up in the scoring column this season for the Golden Rams. They lead the team in scoring through four games. Nina Scott is coming off a two-goal performance in a win over Adelphi on Wednesday. She has been a force up top in Amy Cohen's offense.

Transfer goalkeeper, Audra Szymborski, has been the stabilizing force in the cage or the Golden Rams. Her start to the 2025 campaign has been nothing short of spectacular. She has a veteran and experienced group in front of her on the defensive line, and West Chester has shown some speed through the midfield in its transition game.

SCOUTING THE WOLVES
The Wolves recently climbed to No.7 in the Penn Monto/NFHCA Division II National Coaches Poll. Newberry sits at a perfect 4-0 record this season, totaling 18 goals through three games.

Forward Parker Keeler has been a key contributor to Newberry's offense, scoring two goals in the season opener against Frostburg State and totaling four on the young season.
Emma Westbrook has also been a consistent offensive threat for the Wolves, recording four goals as well, including two in the win over Belmont Abbey.

The goal has been strong all season, with sophomore Ayanda Mangenah and freshman Kensley Harris combining for a perfect record, not allowing a goal thus far.

WCU FIELD HOCKEY A FAMILY AFFAIR
West Chester University has always prided itself on being one big happy family. This year's roster is an example of that as freshman Lily Coombs has joined her older sister, Emma, at West Chester. The two midfielders play up top in head coach Amy Cohen's system.
