PHILADELPHIA, Pa.- After opening PSAC East play with a convincing 3-0 victory over Millersville on Wednesday night, the West Chester University volleyball team (9-1) will step out of league play this weekend to take on a pair of CACC foes in Holy Family (7-4) and Jefferson (5-4) on Friday and Saturday. West Chester will face Holy Family on Friday evening at 5 p.m. before facing off against Jefferson on Saturday at 11 a.m.

West Chester opened PSAC East play with a dominant victory on Wednesday night over Millersville, dispatching the Marauders in straight sets by 25-22, 25-11, and 25-17 finals. West Chester never trailed in the first two sets and erased an early deficit in the third en route to a convincing 3-0 victory.
Zoe Haines (York, Pa./York Suburban) led all players in kills with 14 and hit .500 (14-3-22) to help lead the Golden Rams to the 3-0 victory. Led by two solo blocks and two assisted blocks from
Julia Kwitchoff (Niagara Falls, N.Y./Niagara Wheatfield), West Chester turned in seven blocks and also picked up 13 aces, led by six from
Lacie Brown (Cochranville, Pa./Avon Grove).
Flock Talk
Abiah Lane (Ardmore, Pa./Lower Merion) leads the team in kills with 106, while Haines is a close second with 97. Brown leads the team in assists with 315 and is second in digs with 85, while also ranking third in aces with 12 and fifth in blocks with 11.
Bria Stepp (Cranberry Twp, Pa./Seneca Valley) is first on the team in aces with 17, while
Elianna Freeman (Jersey Village, Tx./Jersey Village) leads the team in digs with 94. Kwitchoff continues to lead the team in blocks with 27 on the season, while Haines and
CeCe Isenberg (Berwick, Pa./Berwick) are close behind with 23 and 22, respectively.
Starting Strong
West Chester is off to a stellar start this season at 9-1, including a perfect 6-0 record at home. The Golden Rams have dropped just five sets this season, falling 3-2 to Molly on September 12 before holding on for a 3-2 win over Bowie State on September 16.
Road Warriors
After playing six of its first 10 matches of the year at home, West Chester will head out for a four-match road swing, as the team will not play in front of its home crowd again until October 8. West Chester will be in non-league play this weekend at Holy Family and Jefferson before visiting Kutztown and ESU next weekend in the first weekend of league play. When the Golden Rams return home to host Felician on October 8, it will be the first of a five-match homestand, which will include matchups against Bloomsburg, Lock Haven, Shippensburg, and Shepherd.
Series History
History is on the Golden Rams' side this weekend as the team is 15-1 against Holy Family since 2007, including wins in each of the last seven meetings, and 12-3 against Jefferson with wins in each of the last two meetings. West Chester's last loss to Holy Family came in 2013, when the Golden Rams fell to the Tigers by a 3-1 final in Philadelphia, halting an eight-game winning streak.
Against Jefferson, West Chester is 3-1 against the Rams in Philadelphia, having won each of the last two meetings after dropping three in a row to the Rams from 2019 through 2022.
Scouting Holy Family
Holy Family enters the weekend at 7-4 on the year, including a perfect 3-0 at home, hoping to halt a three-game losing streak, which has included losses to Franklin Pierce, Adelphi, and Wilmington. Holy Family is 1-1 against PSAC East competition this year, handing Kutztown a 3-0 loss on September 6 before falling to Millersville by a 3-1 final on September 9.
Shelby Kinzer and Mackenzie Layton are first and second on the team in kills with 135 and 130, respectively. Mia Wise leads the team in assists and aces with 443 assists and 25 aces, while Keira Rogan is first on the team in digs with 107. Kinzer and Wise are tied for second on the team in digs with 93 each. Leah Logan leads the team in blocks with 25, while Ava Kidd, who is third on the team in kills with 87, is second in blocks with 18.
Scouting Jefferson
Jefferson heads into the weekend at 5-4 on the year, following a 3-1 loss at Goldey-Beacom on Tuesday night. The Rams are 4-2 at home on the year after dropping a pair of matches to Edinboro inside the Gallagher Center earlier in September.
Emily McKenna leads Jefferson in kills with 104, while Meredith Adams is first on the team in assists with 206. Gabby Titus leads the group in aces with 19, while Kate Hines is first in digs with 139. Pemi Aerola is first on the team in blocks with 18 while ranking second in kills with 46.
