West Chester Lifts Lid on Conference Slate at Millersville Saturday

BIEMESDERFER STADIUM TICKETING / PARKING

MILLERSVILLE, PA
– West Chester University and Millersville University get together for the 92nd time on Saturday at Chryst Field at Biemesderfer Stadium in what is tied for the oldest rivalry on the gridiron, but also serves as the most-played.

West Chester enters Biemesderfer Stadium at 2-1 and coming off a convincing victory over Seton Hill in its home opener one week ago. Meanwhile, Millersville is still in search of its first win of the season at 0-3 and looking to rebound from a 70-24 setback at Indiana, Pa. last week.

Tickets to Saturday's game are $10 for general admission seating on the visitor's side of the field and can be purchased at the gate. Senior citizens (60+) and non-Millersville students are $5. The tailgating policy at Biemesderf Stadium can be found HERE.

Those who cannot make it to Biemesderfer Stadium can listen to West Chester's broadcasting tandem of Mike Samsel and Andrew Daley HERE. Millersville's video stream of the contest can be seen on the PSAC Sports Digital Network HERE.

FLOCK TALK
West Chester head coach Duke Greco, now in his second season at the helm of the purple & gold, is making his first trip to Millersville. The Golden Rams dropped a 23-14 decision to the Marauders the last time these two met in Biemesderfer Stadium back in 2023 – which ended a 19-game losing streak by the Marauders to the Golden Rams. Since that victory over West Chester, however, Millersville has gone 1-20. A total of 14 players and six starters on the Rams' side participated in that loss and are looking for payback on Saturday.

One more player who participated in that game and helped Millersville score the upset, Gus Ross, will don the purple & gold for the Golden Rams on Saturday. He started at cornerback for the Marauders that day and registered one tackle and one pass breakup. He has started all three of West Chester's games this year at corner.

AIR DEFENSES LEAD THE WAY
West Chester brings the conference's top-ranked pass defense to town on Satuday. The Golden Rams have allowed an average of just 116.3 pards through the air in its first three contests. The Marauders pass attack is ranked second in the PSAC and averaging 288.3 yards passing per game. Senior cornerback, Kaleb Brown ranks third in the PSAC in interceptions and fourth in passes defensed. He has two interceptions on the year and is a big reason why West Chester's pass defense is one of the best in the league.

COOP PSAC RUSHING LEADER
West Chester's second-ranked rushing attack in the PSAC should flourish against Millersville's run defense, which ranks next to last in the league. Quarterback Cooper Jordan took over the conference lead in rushing last week and has 334 yards on the ground and four TDs to his credit. The Marauders will need to find a way to slow him down, if they are to get the win on Saturday.

Jordan was named the PSAC East Offensive Player of the Week by the PSAC on Monday. Jordan led his team to a 34-16 victory over Seton Hill in the Golden Rams' home opener. Jordan was responsible for all five of West Chester's touchdowns. He ran for two scores and threw for three more while also rushing for over 100 yards in a game for the seventh time in his college career. He finished the day with 112 yards rushing on 20 carries to go with the pair of TD runs.

Through the air, Jordan completed 13 of 19 passes for 224 yards, including the three TD passes - each to a different wide receiver. Jordan passed former running back Rocky Rees for 17th on the school's all-time rushing chart. He now has 2,256 yards on the ground. It marks the fifth time in Jordan's career that he has been honored by the PSAC in its weekly awards.

WEST CHESTER LAST TIME OUT
It was a festive atmosphere throughout the day last Saturday as the Golden Rams celebrated the naming of the field (Tomlinson-Fillippo Field). West Chester also unveiled its new videoboard, made possible thanks in large part to the generosity of Roger '82 and Agnes Ware, which will help transform game day in Farrell Stadium for decades to come. To boot, West Chester knocked off Seton Hill, 34-16, to improve to 2-1 on the year.

Additionally, Jordan's five touchdowns were the most he has accounted for in a single game since his five-touchdown effort vs Millersville on Homecoming a year ago.

Matt Iuvara led the team in receiving yards with 84 yards on four catches, including his 41-yard touchdown reception. Iuvara picked up 35 of his 84 yards after the catch. Ivan Thorpe also had a big day, catching three passes for 68 yards, including a 30-yard reception over the middle.

Connor Noble made 12 tackles, including one tackle for a loss, while Johnny Pergine made nine tackles, including a sack, in the victory.

ON THE HORIZON
West Chester returns home next Saturday for its Homecoming/Family Weekend contest. The Golden Rams welcome East Stroudsburg to town for a 2 p.m. clash that should bring a packed house. Fans are encouraged to arrive early and carpool if possible.
