WEST CHESTER, Pa.- For the seventh year in a row, the West Chester University Athletics Department came together for the annual Ram Let's Walk event to raise funds and awareness for student-athlete mental health. The event, which featured a record 266 registered participants and over 50 additional student-athletes volunteering, took place on Sunday, September 21st, at West Chester University.
The event raised over $ 6,000 in support of WCU Athletics Initiatives to support student-athlete mental health. A host of campus departments and organizations also participated in the event, with The Hidden Opponent (THO), Lax-4-Life, and the Counseling Center in attendance to further raise awareness.
Graduate assistant Allyson 'Ally' Meakim has continued the family tradition of organizing Rams Let's Walk, taking over the operations of the event from her older sister Jess, who was one of the co-founders of the event. "I am grateful for all of our participants and volunteers for making our 7
th Rams Let's Walk a successful one," started Ally. "It is heartwarming to see so many people supporting a cause that impacts so many of us. Together, we can fight the stigma surrounding mental health. Together, we are Golden."
Participants, which included WCU students, faculty, staff, family, friends, and West Chester residents, had the option to walk a one-mile route or run the 5K, which snaked through the West Chester University campus on what was a perfect September morning in West Chester.
Following the race, the raffle basket winners were announced, along with the winners from each division. West Chester also recognized Wegmans and Rossi's Rally for their donations, which helped make the Seventh Annual Rams Let's Walk successful once again in 2025.
