Women's Soccer Ranked Third in Second NCAA Power Index (NPI) Rankings of 2026 Season

Full Rankings
WEST CHESTER, Pa.- The West Chester University women's soccer team was ranked third in the Atlantic Region in the latest NCAA Power Index (NPI) rankings released by the NCAA on Monday morning.

West Chester, who debuted in the rankings last week in second in the Region with an NPI of 59.880, slipped ever so slightly this week as the Golden Rams NPI dropped to 59.750, which is 17th best in Division II soccer and third in the Atlantic Region, trailing Fairmont State (62.245) and Kutztown (60.087).

The reigning Division II women's soccer Atlantic Region Champions enter the new week at 11-1-1 on the year and 9-1-1 in league play, which is what the team is being evaluated on, as the wins over Lackawanna do not count toward NCAA Tournament selection in 2026. West Chester went 2-0-0 last week with a pair of 4-0 wins over East Stroudsburg and Mansfield.

West Chester is one of four PSAC teams in the top five and one of six in the top eight, as the Golden Rams are joined by Kutztown (2; 60.087), Slippery Rock (4; 58.637), Gannon (5; 57.165), Shepherd (7; 54.854), and Millersville (8; 54.479).

The NPI is a new ranking system adopted by Division II for the 2026-27 academic year to help evaluate teams for NCAA Tournament selection. The system uses a data-driven formula that considers a team's wins and losses, strength of schedule, and quality of opponents.

Unlike traditional rankings, the NPI evaluates teams on a national scale, allowing programs from different conferences and regions to be compared using the same system.

Today's rankings are the second of many to be released, as a new set will be unveiled next Monday when the rankings transition to daily (Monday through Friday) rankings through the conclusion of the regular season.

West Chester returns to action on Wednesday afternoon at Shepherd at 2 p.m. before a Senior Day clash with Shippensburg on Saturday afternoon at 12 p.m.
