Five Things to Know
- West Chester nearly picked up its first win of the season last week in Maine as the Golden Rams traveled to Bowdoin for a rematch of the 2025 NIRA Semifinals. The Golden Rams erased a 13-point second-half deficit and, after a late second-half try by Christelle Adikepto (Abomey Calavi, Benin/Moon Area), her second of the match, held a 17-13 lead with under 10 minutes to play. West Chester committed a costly turnover on the ensuing kickoff, and Bowdoin took full advantage of this, driving into score with three minutes to play to escape with an 18-17 victory over the Golden Rams.
- Adikpeto and Nina McDowell (Mercersburg, Pa./Mercersburg) scored the first points of the season for West Chester last Saturday as Adikpeto scored a pair of trys along with one from McDowell and a successful conversion to score her first collegiate points.
- Mount St. Mary's enters the weekend in a similar position to West Chester, searching for its first win of the season after losses to LIU (29-28), La Salle (25-17), and Navy (25-0) through the month of September.
- West Chester is 5-2 against Mount St. Mary's since 2017. With a 67-0 win in the first meeting between the two sides in Maryland in October 2017, West Chester won five of the first six meetings but found itself on the wrong end of a40-5 setback to the Mount in Maryland last October. West Chester is unbeaten at home against Mount St. Mary's, including a 39-19 win in October 2018, a 32-19 win in November 2019, and a 31-22 win in November 2024.
- Saturday's match is the start of a two-game homestand for West Chester as the Golden Rams will remain home to take on Navy on October 18 before visiting La Salle and Frostburg State on October 24 and 31 ahead of a Senior Day clash with LIU on November 8 beginning at 12 p.m.
