Lacey Co-Winner on Floor; West Chester Gymnasts Third at Tri-Meet Friday

WCU TRI-MEET RESULTS

WEST CHESTER, PA – West Chester University placed third at its own tri-meet falling to Ursinus College, who eclipsed 190 for the first time this year with a score of 191.950 and No. 37 Towson 195.325. Towson won the tri-meet with a mark that equaled their second-best effort of the winter. West Chester posted a 191.575.
 
The last two rotations were West Chester's best events. The Golden Rams posted five career highs with three of those coming on the floor. Meanwhile, the hosts added another six season highs as well. The Golden Rams put up season-best scores in both the balance beam and the floor exercise in those final two rotations.
 
Ava Griffith (Palm Desert, Calif.) shined on the vault with a new career-high score of 9.700. She was the Golden Rams' top performer in that event. Sarah Eskew (Pittsburgh, Pa.) posted a 9.575 as well. However, West Chester scored just a 47.875 as a team on the vault to lead off the meet.
 
West Chester rotated to the uneven bars next where Lianna Schultz (Allentown, Pa.) had a career-high 9.500 which equaled Melina Ringas' (Glen Allen, Va.) score. Karah Vargo (Fort Myers, Fla.) posted a season-high of 9.325 on the bars as well. The Golden Rams scored a 46.525 on the bars.
 
The balance beam turned out to be the Golden Rams' top event for the night as they put up a season-best score of 48.325, marking just the second time that they finished above the 48.000 mark. Three Golden Rams posted season highs on the beam with sophomore EmmaGrace Kelly (Tampa, Fla.) leading the way with a third-place finish overall and a 9.775. Tatum McGuinn (Glen Mills, Pa.) tied for fifth with a 9.725. Anna Lacey (Bethlehem, Pa.) led off the beam competition with a season-best 9.65 while Macarthy Keane (Trumbull, Conn.) followed up with a season-high 9.575.
 
West Chester finished up on the floor exercise. Lydia Stoner (Hershey, Pa.) tied her career high in the leadoff position with a score of 9.725. In all, West Chester witnessed three career highs on the floor and one more season high. However, it was not enough to overcome Ursinus in the final rotation. Corinne Gruber (Boyertown, Pa.) finished fifth overall and tied her career best with a 9.825, which was also a season high. Lacey set a new career high and tied for the individual title with a score of 9.90. West Chester's 48.800 was a new season best team score on the floor.
 
West Chester and Towson will travel up I-95 to Philadelphia to meet University of Pennsylvania on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 pm inside The Palestra for another tri-meet.
