The Storyline
West Chester University gets right back into the gym just two days after finishing in third place in its own tri-meet on Friday night when the Golden Rams head to The Palestra in Philadelphia for another tri-meet with host University of Pennsylvania and Towson University at 2 p.m.
West Chester will have another shot at Towson inside The Palestra on Sunday. Towson won the tri-meet at West Chester on Friday. However, the host team, Penn, is going to provide quite a challenge for both of these programs. Towson, which was ranked 36th in the latest Gym News Poll, came in 43rd on Road to Nationals. Meanwhile, Penn was ranked 37th in Road to Nationals' weekly poll. The Quakers did not appear in the Gym News Poll. They are well rested heading into Sunday's tri-meet. Two tri-meets in three days is challenging for any gymnastics program. However, throw in a pair of nationally ranked opponents, and the Golden Rams certainly have their work cut out for them. The upside to these competitions is that West Chester has an opportunity to measure themselves against some of the top programs in the Northeast.
West Chester has shown the ability to compete against GEC opponents Cornell, William & Mary and Bridgeport so far this year. The Golden Rams saw UPenn the first weekend of the season. But, now they will be able to see how they match up with four more meets under their belts. They will see UPenn twice more in march at the Pink Invitational and at the GEC Championship Meet at Cornell.
The Golden Rams will have a chance at redemption against Ursinus one week from today when they travel to the Bears' gym for a dual rematch. Ursinus posted a season-high on Friday night inside Sturzebecker HSC and eclipsed a score of 190 for the first time in 2026. That will certainly be a meet the Golden Rams are looking forward to.

WEST CHESTER RECAP FROM FRIDAY NIGHT
West Chester University placed third at its own tri-meet falling to Ursinus College and No. 36 Towson, which won the tri-meet with a mark that equaled their second-best effort of the winter. West Chester posted a 191.575.
The last two rotations were West Chester's best events. The Golden Rams posted five career highs with three of those coming on the floor. Meanwhile, the hosts added another six season highs as well. The Golden Rams put up season-best scores in both the balance beam and the floor exercise in those final two rotations.
West Chester finished up on the floor exercise. Lydia Stoner tied her career high in the leadoff position with a score of 9.725. In all, West Chester witnessed three career highs on the floor and one more season high. However, it was not enough to overcome Ursinus in the final rotation. Corinne Gruber finished fifth overall and tied her career best with a 9.825, which was also a season high. Lacey set a new career high and tied for the individual title with a score of 9.90. West Chester's 48.800 was a new season best team score on the floor.

SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION
PENNSYLVANIA (12-0, 7-0 GEC)
In their last meet, Penn made history all over the arena. Penn's 196.000 ranks sixth all-time for a total team score while ranking first for a home meet. On the beam, Penn secured their second-best score ever with a 49.375. This also ranks first for a home meet. Finally, sophomore Mani Fofana scored the second-highest individual beam score in program history with a 9.925. A historic day at The Palestra for the Quakers at their last home meet.
After her career-defining performance, sophomore Fofana earned Gymnastics East Conference Gymnast of the Week for the second consecutive week. She will look to make it three in a row this week.
The Quakers are 12-0 thus far in this season. This is the best start in program history. The Quakers put up season-highs in three rotations last week, with the vault (48.925), beam (49.375), and floor (49.075) all ranking atop the season standings.

TOWSON (4-4, 1-1 EAGL)
Towson took care of business Friday at West Chester by tying its second-best team score of the season and earning a tri-meet victory with a final score of 195.325.
Towson had the top score in all four events, highlighted by a 49.175 on floor. Towson individual student-athletes also earned the top score in each individual event and all-around.  Isabella Minervini won the all-around with a 39.300 score, taking or tying for first in three events: floor, bars and beam.  Jocelyn Lannon took first in the vault.
Adriana Hoffman is the EAGL Specialist of the Week, announced on Feb. 11. Hoffman earned the top score of floor on Saturday with a 9.875 in Towson's dual meet victory vs. LIU. She also finished tied for fourth place on vault with a 9.750.

CHASING HISTORY
West Chester University head coach Barbara Cordova entered the 2026 campaign just seven wins shy of her mentor while at West Chester and former legendary head coach Sandy Thielz. She picked up two more victories two weeks ago at George Washington University and one more in each of the  last two weeks in duals against William & Mary and SUNY Cortland. Cordova now has 174-152 (.534) record in her 17+ years at her alma mater. Thielz authored an all-time record of 177-88-1 (.670) during her 21-year career at the helm of the Golden Rams from 1974 through 1995. Cordova is three wins away from tying Thielz as the all-time winningest women's gymnastics coach at West Chester.
