Men's Basketball Set for Series Finale at Shippensburg on Saturday Afternoon

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa.- Following a 20-point win at Kutztown on Wednesday night for its 10th win of 2026, the West Chester University men's basketball team (17-5, 11-4) will look to start a new winning streak against Shippensburg (11-11, 6-9) on Saturday afternoon in Heiges Field House beginning at 3 p.m.

Last Time Out

West Chester trailed for only 14 seconds and was tied for only a moment more as the Golden Rams led by as many as 22 with 1:22 to play in a near wire-to-wire 73-53 victory over Kutztown on Wednesday night inside Keystone Arena. Ruben Rodriguez Jr. (Reading, Pa./Reading) led all scorers with 18 points, along with seven assists and four rebounds, and was one of three Golden Rams in double figures in the win. Gabe Moss (Pottstown, Pa./The Hill School) and Dinari Boykin (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley) scored 13 and 12 points, respectively.  West Chester shot 48.3 % (14-of-29) from the field in the second half, including a 42.9 % (6-of-14) effort from three-point range to shake off a slow start offensively and roll to the 20-point victory. The Golden Rams finished the game shooting 41.3 % (26-of-63) from the field and 29.2 % (7-of-24) from three-point range, while also going 14-for-16 (90.0 %) at the line, including a 9-of-10 effort in the second half.

West Chester holds a 77-38 lead in the all-time series against Shippensburg after posting a 76-54 victory in Hollinger earlier this season. West Chester holds a 48-9 lead in the series when at home, but is 28-28 against the Raiders on the road since December 1951, including an 85-81 loss in Heiges last February, which came the week that the Golden Rams broke into the NABC Top-25. West Chester's last road win over Shippensburg was an 88-73 win in January 2024, which was the team's first win Heiges since December 2015.

Scouting Shippensburg

Shippensburg enters play on Saturday in the midst of a two-game losing streak, which has seen the Raiders fall to 11-11 overall and 6-9 in league play after a 78-60 loss at Millersville on Wednesday night. On Wednesday in Millersville, Shippensburg found itself down 17 at the half, and this early deficit was too much to overcome in the 18-point road loss. Michael Dickson, Jaydon Smith, and Denzel Figueroa all scored 10 points, and Figueroa added 10 rebounds for a double-double as the lone three Raiders in double figures. As a team, Shippensburg shot 37.3 % (25-of-67) from the field and 21.4 % (3-of-14) from three-point range, while also going 7-for-11 (63.6 %) at the line.

As a team, Shippensburg enters play on Saturday averaging 76.0 points per game on 46.1 % shooting from the field and 33.7 % shooting from beyond the arc, along with 70.7 % at the line.
