ORLANDO, FLA – West Chester's women's tennis squad dropped a hard fought match to California (Pa.), 4-3, Wednesday evening on its Spring Break trip in Orlando, Fla.
Cal (6-4) opened the match by taking two of the three doubles matches and claiming the one doubles point.
Felicia Manful (Berwyn, Pa. Conestoga) and
Sohana Thompson (Fairfield, Ohio The Seven Hills School) were 6-4 winners at third doubles, but that was all the Golden Rams got in the first part of the match.
Delaney Tingle (Charlotte, N.C. Palm Desert High),
Ashleigh Grooms (Newport, Ky. The Summit Country Day School) and
Alexandra Cave (Greenmeadows Napier, New Zealand) were all winners in the singles competition with Tingle and Grooms going to a third-set tie-breaker to get the win. Cave was a straight-set winner at fourth singles.
West Chester returns to action on Friday with a match against Slippery Rock at 11:30 a.m. in Orlando, Fla.
