MEET RESULTS
WEST CHESTER, PA – Senior
Anna Lacey (Bethlehem, Pa.) tied her career high on the floor exercise to help secure a 192.225-190.500 victory over visiting Cornell Saturday afternoon in Gymnastics East Conference (GEC) women's gymnastics meet inside Sturzebecker HSC.
With the win, head coach Barb Cordova tied the school's all-time wins record of 177, which was held by her former head coach and mentor at West Chester University, Sandy Thielz. West Chester gymnasts took first place in three of the four events on the day with four career high marks that were either tied or bested.
West Chester started out on the vault where the team scored above a 48 thanks to a pair of gymnasts tying their season high scores. Freshman
Aly Sobczak (Pittsgrove, N.J.) matched her season-best with a 9.600 and fellow freshman
Gianna Smith (Pittsburgh, Pa.) scored a 9.650 to equal her season best and finish third.
Sarah Eskew (Pittsburgh, Pa.) posted a 9.675 which was second overall in the meet. West Chester finished with a team score of 48.050.
On the uneven bars, the Golden Rams received career highs from both
Madelyn McCullough (Covington Twp., Pa.) and
Lianna Schultz (Allentown, Pa.). McCullough put up a 9.750 to lead off on the bars which was good for first place in that event. Schultz, who had hit a 9.625 in exhibition earlier in the season, hit that score again, for the first time while in the scoring lineup.
Sarah Eskew (Pittsburgh, Pa.) finished second on the bars with a 9.700 that gave the Golden Rams a team score of 48.125.
The Golden Rams led off the floor exercise with a career-high 9.800 from junior
Lydia Stoner (Palmyra, Pa.) and followed that up with a 9.700 from Smith. Stoner finished fourth on the floor. Lacey's 9.900 in the anchor position of the lineup was good for first place in that event. West Chester scored a 48.875 as a team on the floor exercise.
Sophomore
Tatum McGuinn (Glen Mills, Pa.) capped off the balance beam with a 9.750 that was good for first place in that event. Senior
Macarthy Keane (Trumbull, Conn.) scored a 9.600 on the beam and tied for third.
West Chester heads to the Gymnastics East Conference (GEC) Championships next weekend in Ithaca, N.Y. on the campus of Cornell University.
