Men's Track and Field Set for Danny Curran Invitational at Widener

WEST CHESTER, Pa.-
The West Chester University men's track and field squad is preparing to return to action this weekend at the Danny Curran Invitational at Widener on Friday and Saturday afternoon.

West Chester heads into the new week following an outstanding performance in West Chester last weekend at the Purple and Gold Opener in John A. Farrell Stadium.

Last Time Out

Bishop Lane (Wilmington, Del./Salesianum) led West Chester in the 100 with a seventh-place finish in 11.11 seconds, while Ronald Leraris (Glen Mills, Pa./Garnet Valley) was eighth in 11.13 seconds.
Chase Hildebrand (Chalfont, Pa./C.B. South) was fourth in the 110 hurdles in 16.48 seconds.

Jordan Barge (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) led West Chester in the 400 with a second-place finish in 50.83 seconds, while Jhaven Sims (Scranton, Pa./Scranton) and Billy Zane (Springfield, Pa./Springfield Delco) were fifth and sixth in 51.85 and 52.24 seconds, respectively.

Aiden Schwartz (Allentown, N.J./Allentown) led West Chester in the 800 with a ninth-place finish in 2 minutes and 4.48 seconds, while Chris Frank (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West) was 10th in 2:05.01.

Sam Leisenring (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West) and Zane turned in top-three finishes in the 1500 in 4:10.18 (second) and 4:11.85 (third), while Gavin Sheetz (Lebanon, Pa./Lebanon) grabbed a top-five finish of his own with a fifth-place finish in 4:12.24.

West Chester finished its day on the track with a pair of top-five finishes in the 4x400 relay as the Golden Rams took third, fourth, and seventh in 3:34.98, 3:35.88, and 3:51.43, respectively.

Brodyn Wolfert (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee) and Thomas Smith (Wallingford, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) went 1,2 in the hammer with marks of 152 feet 11 inches (46.62 meters) and 140-9 (42.9m), respectively. Wolfert also won the discus with a mark of 155-10 (47.51m), while Smith was fourth with a mark of 131-7 (40.12m).

Leraris took first in the long jump with a mark of 22-1 1 ¾ (6.75m), while Seth Tshudy (Phoenixville, Pa./Great Valley) won the pole vault with a mark of 12-11 ¾ (3.96m).

Jacob Joslin (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) won the shot put with a mark of 51-6 ¼ (15.7m), followed by Smith in second with a mark of 46-0 ½ (14.03m).

Xavier Campbell (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) led West Chester in the triple jump with a mark of 41-5 ¼ (12.63m).

Colin Niedrowski (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing) captured the javelin with a mark of 191-5 (58.34m), while Wolfert took third with a mark of 165-9 (50.53m).

49ers Classic

Andre Jackson-Littlejohn (Royersford, Pa./Springford) took seventh in the 100-meter dash in 10.66 seconds, while David Burnshaw (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) led West Chester in the 200 with a 32nd-place finish in 22.14 seconds.

Burnshaw also led West Chester in the 400 with a 20th-place finish in 49.24 seconds.

West Chester finished 14th in the 4x100 relay in 1:01.61.

Up Next

West Chester will be back in action next weekend for the Ursinus Track and Field Festival and William & Mary Colonial Relays on April 3-4.
