LOCK HAVEN, Pa.- The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) released its baseball weekly awards on Monday afternoon and
Julian Costa (Mantua, N.J./Clearview) earned PSAC East Pitcher of the Week honors after a no-hitter against Frostburg State on Saturday night.
Costa etched his name into West Chester history on Saturday evening as he threw his second career no-hitter and second in as many seasons, becoming the first player in school history to throw multiple no-hitters. Last season, Costa ended the month of February with his first career no-hitter and became the first Golden Ram pitcher since Nicholas Frank in 1947 to throw a no-hitter. On Saturday against Frostburg State, Costa carried a perfect game into the sixth inning before yielding his fist of three walks. Costa limited the Bobcats to just three baserunners via a walk as he struck out eight over the course of his seven-inning no-hitter.
West Chester will be back in action on Wednesday for a midweek clash at Saint Joseph's before hosting Gannon in a four-game weekend series in West Chester on Friday and Saturday.
