Women's Tennis to Host Bloomsburg on Thursday Afternoon

WEST CHESTER, Pa.- The West Chester University women's tennis team (6-4, 1-0) is preparing for its next PSAC Eastern Division clash on Thursday afternoon as the Golden Rams welcome Bloomsburg (8-3, 1-0) to South Campus beginning at 2 p.m.

Last Time Out

West Chester enters play on Thursday on a two-match winning streak after defeating Goldey Beacom on Friday, March 20 by a 5-2 final before opening PSAC East play with a 4-3 win at Millersville on March 24. At Millersville last Tuesday, West Chester got out to a 1-0 lead in the match with doubles victories by Ashleigh Grooms/Alexandra Cave and Sohana Thompson/Felicia Manful before winning first, fourth, and sixth singles matches to capture the 4-3 victory. Delaney Tingle won the clinching match at first singles over Lauren Hayes of Millersville by a 7-6, 1-6, 6-2 final to fend off the Marauders' comeback bid.

In Recent Years

Since 2008, West Chester is 11-9 against Bloomsburg, including wins in eight of the last 10 meetings, which includes a seven-match winning streak that began in April 2019 and continued through April 2024. West Chester has not lost to Bloomsburg in West Chester since a 7-2 setback in April 2010.

In a week filled with mostly 70-degree days, Thursday will be an unfortunate anomaly as the forecast calls for a high of just 51 degrees under cloudy skies before the temps return to the 70s for the weekend.

Scouting Bloomsburg

Bloomsburg enters play on Thursday at 8-3 overall and 1-0 in league play after opening PSAC East play with a 7-0 victory over Shippensburg on Tuesday afternoon after halting a two-match losing streak with a 6-1 win over Juniata at home on March 23.

Nicole Ilkvoic leads the Huskies in singles play at 13-5, including a mark of 4-0 in third singles play, along with 2-0 and 2-3 records at second and first singles, respectively. Sarah Buck is 12-4 in singles play, while Lily Sierka is 11-5 as the three Huskies with 10 or more singles wins so far this season. In doubles action, Ilkovic and Jen McDonald are the top pair for the Huskies at 9-5 on the year, including a 2-2 record at first doubles, while Sarah Buck and Maddie DeLisio are 7-1 (4-0 in dual matches), including a 3-0 mark at third doubles.
