Women's Tennis to Host Bloomsburg, Kutztown on Tuesday and Wednesday to Conclude Regular Season

WEST CHESTER, Pa.- The West Chester University women's tennis team is set to return to action on Tuesday against Bloomsburg, beginning at 2 p.m., before hosting Kutztown in its regular-season finale on Wednesday at 3 p.m.

Last Time Out

West Chester enters play on Tuesday on a four-match losing streak, including a 6-1 loss at Frostburg State on Saturday afternoon. West Chester's last PSAC East match was on April 15 at home against East Stroudsburg, a match that West Chester dropped by a 4-3 final, despite getting out to an early 2-0 lead with a win in the doubles point and an early singles victory.

The Series

Since 2008, West Chester is 11-9 against Bloomsburg, including wins in eight of the last 10 meetings, which includes a seven-match winning streak that began in April 2019 and continued through April 2024. West Chester has not lost to Bloomsburg in West Chester since a 7-2 setback in April 2010.

Against Kutztown, West Chester is 14-5 since 2008 and is on a 12-match winning streak, including a 5-2 win at Kutztown last April and a 6-1 win in West Chester in April 2024 in the Golden Bears last visit to South Campus.

The Weather

Tuesday will feature a high in the low 50s under sunny skies, while Wednesday will be in the mid-60s with a chance of rain.

Scouting Bloomsburg

Bloomsburg is 12-4 overall and 3-0 in league play as the Huskies have won four straight, including a 5-2 win over Millersville, a 4-3 win over Salem, a 7-0 win over Kutztown, and a 5-2 win over Edinboro.

Individually, Nicole Ilkovic is 17-5 in singles play, including a mark of 6-3 at first singles, while Sarah Buck is 15-5 (6-3 at sixth singles), and Lily Sierka is 13-8, including a mark of 5-1 at fourth singles. Dasha Nakonechna is 8-13 in singles play, including a record of 4-1 in second singles. In doubles action, Sierka and Macarena Arisio are 10-5, including a mark of 3-0 at second doubles, while Jen McDonald and Ilkovic are 9-5, including a mark of 2-2 in first doubles action.

Scouting Kutztown

Kutztown enters play on Tuesday at 4-11 overall and on a seven-match losing streak as the Golden Bears search for their first win since a 7-0 win over Alvernia on March 13. Last week, Kutztown dropped a pair of matches to Bloomsburg and Shippensburg by 7-0 and 6-1 finals.

Individually, Isabela De Nadai is 6-8 at first singles, while Ahslyn Phy is 5-3 at sixth singles, and Maddie Gilbert is 4-9 at second singles. In doubles, De Nadai and Gilbert are 5-10 at first doubles as the top doubles pairing so far this season for Kutztown.

The Golden Rams will conclude their regular season against Kutztown on Wednesday and will await the beginning of the PSAC Tournament on April 28 should the Golden Rams earn one of the final two spots in the field.
