Women's Tennis to Visit Shippensburg on Tuesday Afternoon

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa.- The West Chester University women's tennis team (6-4, 1-0) is preparing for an important Tuesday afternoon clash with Shippensburg (5-9, 0-2) as the Golden Rams look for their second league win of the season to move back into a tie for first place atop the Eastern Division standings. First serve is set for 3 p.m. inside the Robb Sports Complex at Shippensburg.

Last Time Out

West Chester enters play on Tuesday on a two-match winning streak after defeating Goldey Beacom on Friday, March 20, by a 5-2 final before opening PSAC East play with a 4-3 win at Millersville on March 24. At Millersville last Tuesday, West Chester got out to a 1-0 lead in the match with doubles victories by Ashleigh Grooms/Alexandra Cave and Sohana Thompson/Felicia Manful before winning first, fourth, and sixth singles matches to capture the 4-3 victory. Delaney Tingle won the clinching match at first singles over Lauren Hayes of Millersville by a 7-6, 1-6, 6-2 final to fend off the Marauders' comeback bid.

A Busy Week

West Chester is set for a busy week as the Golden Rams will play at Shippensburg on Tuesday before hosting Ursinus and Jefferson on Thursday and Friday at 2 p.m.

Series History

Since 2007, West Chester has held a 17-0 lead in the series against Shippensburg, with the Golden Rams' closest call coming last April in a 6-1 home victory as West Chester dropped a point against the Raiders for the first time since 2012 and just the second time since 2007.

Scouting Shippensburg

Shippensburg enters play on Tuesday at 5-9 overall and 0-2 in league action after falling to Bloomsburg and East Stroudsburg on March 31 and April 4, following a 7-0 victory over Penn State-Altoona back on March 27, which halted a two-match losing streak for the Raiders.

Rachel Gallagher, Jade Miller, and Brinley Orris are all 5-6 in singles play, with Gallagher going 4-4 in fourth singles, Miller 5-4 in third singles, and Orris 4-4 in fifth singles. Corrine Markovich is 3-8 in first singles, while Yasmin De Meyer is 4-4 in second singles and 4-7 overall.

In doubles play, Ava Kalist and De Meyer are a team-best 3-3, including a 2-3 mark in second doubles, while the combination of Miller and Markovich is just 1-6 in first doubles.

West Chester will be back in action at home on Thursday against Ursinus, beginning at 2 p.m., before hosting Jefferson on Friday at 2 p.m.
