WEST CHESTER, Pa.- The West Chester University softball team (30-25) got the news it had been waiting for on Monday morning as the Golden Rams learned their 2026 season would continue into the NCAA Tournament for the fourth year in a row and the 14
th time under the tutelage of head coach
Diane Lokey. The Golden Rams will open their Tournament campaign at East Stroudsburg (36-19) on Thursday against third-seeded Kutztown (35-20), while the second-seeded Warriors will host Fairmont State (37-13) in the #2/#7 matchup.
West Chester won three of four to finish the regular season, including a senior day sweep of Bloomsburg, and advanced to the PSAC Semifinals before falling to Indiana (Pa.) in its second elimination game of the PSAC Tournament after defeating California (Pa.), Kutztown, and Seton Hill in Binghamton earlier in the week.
West Chester has won the Atlantic Regional crown four times in its first 13 NCAA Tournament appearances but remains in search of its first crown since 2021, when the team advanced to the National Finals for the third consecutive season.
PSAC Tournament Champion, Shippensburg (38-16), earned the right to host the other half of the Atlantic Regional Tournament and will open its campaign against CIAA Champion, Claflin (30-11), while Glenville State (45-14) and Charleston (45-16) are the fourth and fifth seeds in the Tournament.
