Softball Climbs to Seventh in Final Division II Softball Atlantic Regional Rankings

Division II Selection Show to Air on NCAA.com on Monday at 10 A.M.

Final Rankings
WEST CHESTER, Pa.-
After winning three of four to finish the regular season and qualify for the PSAC Tournament, the West Chester University softball team was ranked seventh in the third and final NCAA Division II Softball Atlantic Regional rankings released by the Division II Softball committee on Wednesday afternoon.

West Chester finished the regular season at 27-23 after finishing the regular season last weekend with a doubleheader split at Shepherd and a doubleheader sweep of Bloomsburg in West Chester to win the season series from the Huskies by a 3-1 margin and earn the fifth and final spot from the PSAC East in the 10-team PSAC Tournament field in Binghamton this week.

Shippensburg (34-16), East Stroudsburg (33-17), and Kutztown (34-18) occupy the top three spots in the rankings, followed by Charleston (W.V.) (42-14) and Glenville State (39-13) in fourth and fifth as the lone two non-PSAC East teams in the top eight. Lock Haven, whom West Chester knocked out of the PSAC Tournament field with its doubleheader sweep on Saturday, is eighth at 29-21 and would be the final team in the field if the Tournament began today. Fairmont State and Bloomsburg are ninth and 10th at 35-11 and 26-20, respectively.

Similar to last week, it does bear noting that the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) does not have a team in the rankings yet; however, the CIAA Champion will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, which will shift the bubble slightly heading into the Division II Softball Selection Show at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 11.

West Chester got its 2026 PSAC Tournament underway on Wednesday afternoon with a matchup against the fourth seed from the PSAC West in California. That game began at 3 p.m. With a victory over the Vulcans, West Chester will face Kutztown in the Golden Bears' first game of the day later this evening at 7 p.m. at Grand Slam Park in Binghamton, New York.
