Gozdan, Smith, and Raho Earn Collegiate Sports Communicators Academic All-District Honors

The Collegiate Sports Communicators (CSC) released its Academic All-District ® selections on Tuesday afternoon and West Chester had three players honored as Patrick Gozdan (Warminster, Pa./Archbishop Wood), Hunter Smith (Martinsburg, Pa./Central), and fellow sophomore Luke Raho (Johnstown, Pa./Richland) were all honored for their efforts in the classroom and on the playing field.

Gozdan, Smith, and Raho are all First Time Academic All-District honorees, and Smith is the lone player of the trio that was selected to advance to the National Academic All-America ® ballot.

Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second-, and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced June 23.

The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially funded by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with award fulfillment for the 2025-26 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA governance structure.

Including a 2-for-3 day with a pair of runs and an RBI in the program-win record tying victory over UT-Tyler on Sunday, Gozdan is batting .315 on the year with 46 hits, including eight doubles and five home runs, driving in 39 and scoring 49 more. The sophomore second baseman has a .960 OPS, including a .473 slugging percentage and a .487 on-base percentage, and has also stolen 13 bases on 16 attempts. Defensively, Gozdan has a .951 fielding percentage and has had a hand in 28 double play turns this spring.

Smith, who is one of two Mansfield transfers on the 2026 squad along with fellow All-District honoree Raho, is in the midst of an incredible sophomore campaign, which has seen him earn All-League and Consensus All-Atlantic Region honors in recognition of his efforts between the lines. Following a 2-for-4 effort with a pair of runs, Smith enters play on Wednesday with a .353 batting average and a 1.068 OPS, which is one of the highest on the team as he is one of three players with an OPS north of 1.000. Smith has 61 hits, including 17 doubles, seven home runs, and three triples, and has driven in 57 runs, while scoring 42 more. He is also 11-for-11 on stolen base attempts and has a .970 fielding percentage as the Golden Rams' starting left fielder with just two errors on the season.

Raho, the third and final Golden Ram honored by the Collegiate Sports Communicators on Tuesday, has been a weekend starter for West Chester throughout the 2026 season and has a record of 4-2 with a 4.81 ERA and a .282 batting average against with 47 strikeouts in 58 innings of work, including a pair of complete games. Raho also has one save on the year and has a WHIP of 1.28. The sophomore can also serve as an additional/emergency outfielder for West Chester and has a .429 batting average with three hits in seven at-bats, including a double, scoring two runs and driving in five.
