5 Things To Know: Women's Volleyball to Visit Felician on Tuesday Night to Start Road Trip

RUTHERFORD, N.J.- After a 2-1 start to the season at the PSAC East Kickoff Tournament presented by Brothers Pizza & Pasta in Hollinger Field House last weekend, the West Chester University women's volleyball team is set to return to action on Tuesday on the road at Felician (2-1) beginning at 6 p.m. The Golden Rams' Tuesday night trek to North Jersey starts a stretch of nine straight matches away from home, as the Golden Rams will not return to Hollinger again until September 19 against Millersville, beginning at 1 p.m.

Five Things to Know
  1. West Chester returns to action after going 2-1 on opening weekend in Hollinger, including a pair of 3-0 victories over Caldwell and Lincoln on Friday evening before falling to West Virginia State by a 3-2 final on Saturday afternoon in the Golden Rams' final match of the weekend. West Chester took the first set with ease in this match before dropping the second and third and winning the fourth to force a decisive fifth set. In the fifth, West Chester got out to an early lead, but West Virginia State stormed back to capture the set by a 15-12 final.
  2. CeCe Isenberg (Berwick, Pa./Berwick) leads West Chester in kills to start the season with 30, followed by Anna Richardson (Smyrna, Del./Smyrna) and Julia Kwitchoff (Niagara Falls, N.Y./Niagara Wheatfield) with 24 and 22, respectively. Kwitchoff leads the team in blocks with 15, while Bria Stepp (Cranberry Twp, Pa./Seneca Valley) leads in assists with 59, Brooke Forester (Langhorne, Pa./Conwell-Egan) leads in aces with 10, and Hailey Atkins (Morristown, N.J./Morristown) leads in digs with 32. West Chester enters play on Tuesday averaging four aces per set, after recording a staggering 25 against Lincoln on Friday afternoon. The Golden Rams are also hitting .276 (129-41-319) on the young season, including a pair of efforts that saw the team hit north of .280 (.288 and .338) against Caldwell and Lincoln on Friday before hitting .230 vs. WVSU on Saturday afternoon.

Felician is off to a similar start to the season as the Golden Falcons fell to Mercy on the road on August 27 before traveling to Vermont on Saturday for a tri-match with Saint Michael's and Assumption, where the Green and Gold picked up a pair of 3-2 and 3-0 victories to improve to 2-1 on the season.
  4. For Felician, Sandra Galas leads the Golden Falcons in kills (40), digs (31), and aces (7), while Bentley Rone leads the team in assists with 60. Faith Sibert leads the way in blocks with 10.
  5. West Chester is 8-0 against the Golden Falcons since 2007 and has dropped just one set to Felician in these eight matches after a 3-1 victory in Hollinger last October.

West Chester will head to North Carolina this weekend as the Golden Rams travel to Elizabeth City State for a Friday-Saturday Invitational, which will see the Golden Rams face Belmont Abbey, Chowan, Glenville State, and Elizabeth City State throughout the weekend, beginning with an 8 am clash against Belmont Abbey on Friday morning.
