No. 5 Field Hockey Travels to Mansfield For A Sunday Matinee

MANSFIELD, PA - West Chester University's nationally ranked field hockey program hits the road once again on Sunday for a 1 p.m. start in Northern PA against Mansfield University. Sunday's contest between the Golden Rams and Mountaineers will be a non-league affair. The two Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference rivals will square of Oct. 2 in West Chester for what will be their conference encounter and will count in the league standings.
 
  1. West Chester heads to Mansfield in its second away game of the season as they begin with a 2-0 start, defeating opponents Assumption, 4-1, and Adelphi in overtime, 2-1. 
  2. West Chester is undefeated against the Mounties with an overall record of 19-0, with nine wins on the road and 10 at home. However, seven of the last eight contests between the two schools have been decided by just one goal.  
  3. Junior Anna Finn (Windsor, N.Y./Windsor) starts the season hot, scoring five goals on the season, with all four for the Golden Rams in the 4-1 victory over Assumption and one in the 2-1 win over Adelphi. 
  4. Senior Midfielders Laura Rogers (Delmar, Del./Delmar) and Sofia Brown (Broomall, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) each tally two assists on the season setting the Golden Rams up to score in each of the two games played.
  5. In three of the last five games against Mansfield, West Chester has held the Mountaineers to one goal or fewer, demonstrating a strong defensive performance.
