WEST CHESTER, Pa.- Following a Tuesday night setback at Felician in the first road match of the 2026 season, the West Chester University women's volleyball team (2-2) is set to return to action this weekend in North Carolina at the Elizabeth City State (1-3) Viking Classic alongside ECSU, Belmont Abbey (2-1), Chowan (0-3), and Glenville State (3-2). West Chester's first opponent of the weekend inside the R.L. Vaughan Center will be Belmont Abbey at 8 a.m. on Friday before West Chester faces Chowan at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. The Golden Rams will start Saturday with a 10:30 a.m. clash with Glenville State before facing ECSU on Saturday night at 6:30.

- West Chester started its nine-match road trip on Tuesday night at Felician, falling to the Golden Falcons by a 3-0 (25-23, 25-23, 25-18) final. CeCe Isenberg (Berwick, Pa./Berwick) led West Chester in kills with 11, while Gwen Atkins (Morristown, N.J./Morristown) chipped in nine of her own. Bria Stepp (Cranberry Twp, Pa./Seneca Valley) led West Chester in assists with 16, while Anna Richardson (Smyrna, Del./Smyrna) led the team in digs with 15.
- Isenberg leads West Chester in kills with 41, while rankings second in blocks with six, trailing only Julia Kwitchoff (Niagara Falls, N.Y./Niagara Wheatfield) and her 15. Stepp is first on the team in assists with 75, while Hailey Atkins (Morristown, N.J./Morristown) is first in digs with 43. Brooke Forester (Langhorne, Pa./Conwell-Egan) leads West Chester in aces with 12.
- West Chester will play Belmont-Abbey for what is believed to be the first time in program history on Friday morning before renewing acquaintances with Chowan, Glenville State, and ECSU the remainder of the weekend. West Chester is 1-0 against Chowan with a 3-0 win in September 2009 in Kutztown, 3-0 vs Glenville State, including a win in the last meeting in September 2013 in West Chester, and is 2-0 vs ECSU, including a win over the Vikings on that same day in 2009 in Kutztown in the last meeting between the two foes.
- West Chester's first opponent of the weekend, Belmont Abbey, enters play 2-1 on the year after going 2-1 at the Catawba Fifth Set Invitational last weekend, including 3-0 wins over Davis & Elkins and Winston-Salem State before falling to Catawba in five sets in the final match of the weekend. Chowan enters the weekend in search of its first win of the season after going 0-3 against Saint Leo, Coker, and Valdosta State at the Coker Cobra Classic last weekend in Hartsville, South Carolina. Glenville State enters the weekend at 3-2 on the year, including a 3-1 win over Salem on Tuesday night after opening the year with a 2-2 weekend at the Bluefield State Invitational, with a win over Bluefield State and Clinton College in between losses to King University and Bluefield State. ECSU, the host of the 2026 Viking Classic, enters play riding a three-match losing streak after falling to Newberry and Barton last weekend, after opening the season with a 3-2 win over Barton on Friday afternoon.
- The Golden Rams' four matches this weekend are part of the aforementioned nine-match road trip, which will keep the Golden Rams away from home until a September 19 clash with Millersville at 1 p.m.in Hollinger Field House in the first of a brief two-match homestand. The final game of the Golden Rams' road trip is scheduled to be at Shippensburg on September 18 at 6 p.m. as the Golden Rams open PSAC East play against the preseason favorite Raiders.
