Five Things to Know
- West Chester got its 2026 season underway last Saturday afternoon at Holy Family with a scoreless draw against the Tigers, led by five saves from Alexi Amanatidis (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./The Shipley School). West Chester was originally slated to open its season last Thursday afternoon in West Chester, but the game was postponed and earlier this week canceled due to lightning.
- Wilmington will also play its first game in a week after spending the first days of the season in Garden City, New York, with Adelphi and Franklin Pierce. The Wildcats opened the season with a 2-0 win over Adelphi on opening day as Samuel Macy scored the first goal of the campaign in the second half, while Eduardo Almansa made four saves to keep the Panther offense at bay. On Saturday, Wilmington remained in Garden City to take on Franklin Pierce and jumped out to a 3-1 lead 57 minutes into the match courtesy of goals by Matthew Yi, Macy, and Tyrell Moore, but allowed three unanswered, including two in the final 10 minutes, to fall by a 4-3 final. Almansa made six saves on 10 shots against in the loss on Saturday afternoon.
- For Wilmington, Macy is tied for 15th in Division II in scoring as he has scored a goal in each of his first two games of 2026 after transferring into Wilmington by way of Felician, where he played in 18 games, started in eight, and scored a pair of goals against Point Park last fall.
- West Chester is 8-9-4 against Wilmington since 2001. West Chester fell to Wilmington by a 2-0 final in West Chester last September after halting a nine-match winless streak against Wilmington in Wilmington during the 2024 season.
- Saturday's game is the second of five straight away from home for West Chester as the Golden Rams will not return home until September 19, when the Golden Rams host Bloomsburg in the third PSAC East game of the season.
