Senior Victor Polyakov (Taganrog, Russia) showed his dominance at the PSAC Championships this weekend by helping West Chester win its 19th straight title with 1,007 points.
Polyakov was named the swimmer of the meet at the conclusion of the championships for the third time in his four-year college career. On the opening day, he swam his way to a 12th individual conference crown, taking first place in the 1000-yard freestyle with an NCAA 'B' cut time of 9 minutes, 17.08 seconds.
The next day he followed it up by capturing his 13th PSAC individual title in the 200 freestyle with a winning time of 1:37.68. Polyakov picked up his 14th PSAC individual crown with a win in the 500 free at 4:30.43.
Lastly, he won his 15th individual PSAC crown and fourth of this championship meet on Sunday with a victory in the 100-yard freestyle. He covered the ground in 44.45 seconds.
West Chester has now won a PSAC record 30 men's swimming team titles while head coach Jamie Rudisill has steered both his men's and women's teams to a combined 34 titles since 1999.
