Mary Beth Green posted a career-high 14 saves, but No. 1 C.W. Post proved too much for No. 2 West Chester in a 20-12 non-league victory Tuesday afternoon at West Chester.
West Chester (9-1) saw its nine-game winning streak come to an end, while suffering programs worst loss since falling 16-8 to Adelphi in last years NCAA Championship Game. C.W. Post (9-0) improved to 5-3 overall against the Golden Rams since the two schools began what has evolved into one of the most competitive rivalries in Division II womens lacrosse.
The Pioneers scored three straight times just before the half to take a 10-5 advantage into the break. That run started a spurt that witnessed C.W. Post score seven of the games next nine goals to jump in front 14-7.
Shannon Fabian led the visitors in scoring with a game-high five points (2G, 3A), and Lauren LoMonaco posted four goals in support.
Stephanie Kienle scored two goals and registered an assist, and
Kimberlee Hachen picked up four ground balls and caused three turnovers.
West Chester will be back in action Thursday for a PSAC tilt opposite Millersville at South Campus Turf Field at 4 p.m.
