NORTHBOROUGH, MASS. – West Chester University senior attackers,
Sydney Wasdick (Pottsgrove, Pa./Pottsgrove) and
Lila McMahon-Skates (West Linn, Ore./West Linn), were each named second team All-America by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) it was announced Wednesday afternoon.
The IWLCA recognized 48 student-athletes, divided into first, second, and third teams. These IWLCA All-Americans, representing 21 different institutions, are recognized as the top athletes in the sport this year.
Both Wasdick and McMahon-Skates make their first appearance on an IWLCA All-America squad with Wednesday's announcement.
Wasdick ranked fifth in the PSAC in goals per game (3.20) and listed second on the team in goals with 64 and third in points with a career-best 84. She ranked third in the PSAC in draw controls with 110, marking the second straight year she eclipsed 100 in a season. She was twice named PSAC East offensive player of the week and even parlayed one of those awards into a national player of the week honor this spring. She completed her career with 177 goals and 211 points to go along with 103 ground balls. Her 260 career draw controls ranks fourth all-time in school history.
McMahon-Skates was also named first team All-PSAC East at the end of the regular season. Skates finished the year with a team-best 110 points, which ranked second in the conference, She was one of only three players in the league to reach triple digits in points this season. Her 52 assists ranked second in the PSAC. She scored 118 goals and assisted on 100 others for a total of 218 points in her four years. Her 100 career assists ranks 10th on the school's all-time list. Her 81 career games played is tied for second at WCU as well.
