Women's Lacrosse Tops Millersville, 18-4

WEST CHESTER, Pa. Stephanie Kienle posted five goals and eight points to lead No. 2 West Chester to an 18-4 victory over visiting Millersville in womens lacrosse PSAC action Thursday afternoon at South Campus Turf Field.

The Golden Rams (10-1, 8-0 PSAC) scored the games first four goals before the Marauders (4-6, 4-4) finally got on the board at the 11:13 mark.

West Chester seemed a bit frustrated by the play of Millersville goalkeeper Patty Wesolek, who kept her side in the tilt for much of the first half. However, the hosts still enjoyed a comfortable 8-1 advantage at the break.

Kienle netted her first two goals of the afternoon 22 seconds apart that doubled the Rams lead to 4-0. West Chester scored just twice in the games first 18 minutes.

Eventually, the Rams wore down the Marauders defense in the final 30 minutes, scoring 10 goals in the second half to remain undefeated in league play. West Chester was able to dictate much of the games pace by secure twice as many draw controls as Millersville (16-8). Gina DiDomenicis led the way with four draw controls for the Golden Rams.

Freshman Nicole Haines registered a hat trick and posted five points, while Chrissy Kane and Jackie Baker each scored two goals and recorded two assists.

Mary Beth Green recorded 10 saves in goal, picking up her eighth win of the season. Wesolek finished with 12 saves for the Marauders.

Millersville was led by Amy Longeneckers two tallies. Laura DeLuca and Jackie Geiger also posted goals for the visitors.

West Chester continues its four-game homestand on Saturday when No. 5/6 Lock Haven comes calling to South Campus for a 1 p.m. clash with the Golden Rams. West Chester took the first game of the season between the two PSAC heavyweights, 18-11.
