No. 2 West Chester Defeats Bloomsburg, 16-8

WEST CHESTER, Pa. - Stephanie Kienle scored six goals and picked up three assists to lead No. 2 West Chester (13-1, 11-0 PSAC) to a 16-8 victory over Bloomsburg (7-6, 7-4) on Saturday afternoon at South Campus Turf Field in West Chester, Pa.

The hosts rallied from a two-goal deficit early with five consecutive tallies all within 10 minutes to lead 6-3 with 11:36 left. Nicole Haines scored on a feed from Kienle with 15:51 remaining giving the Golden Rams the go-ahead tally and never relinquished their lead.

Kimberly Springman capitalized on a free position shot for Bloomsburg with 7:42 remaining in the first half bringing the Huskies within 6-4, but they would not get any closer.

Kienle scored her second goal of the contest with 30 seconds remaining before halftime and the Golden Rams held a 7-4 advantage at the break.

West Chester did not waste any time finding the back of the net following intermission scoring two tallies just 13 seconds apart during the first two minutes of the stanza. The Golden Rams went on to score a total of four unanswered goals to begin the second half as Kienle slipped the ball pass the goalie twice more during the spurt.

West Chester led 11-4 with 20:15 left to play when Bloomsburg knotted two straight goals making the margin 11-6 at the 17:20 mark. Following another Springman tally with 13:28 left, the Golden Rams scored three straight times for the 15-7 lead just inside the five-minute mark.

Mary Beth Green patrolled the crease for West Chester, recording six saves to improve to 11-1 this season.

Mandy Masoner and Haines each recorded hat tricks and finished with four points. Jackie Baker finished with two goals and Chrissy Kane and Kate McQuade each scored once. Carolyn Kacergis registered her first assist this season, helping on the first of Kienle goals to open the second half.

Bridget Maenner made nine saves for Bloomsburg. The Huskies were paced offensively by Springmans four goals. Megan Taylor also added two goals.

West Chester will return to the lacrosse field on Monday, April 23 when it hosts Indiana University (Pa.) for a 4 p.m. contest.
