Men’s Swimming Takes First In 400 Free Relay

– West Chester’s 400 free relay squad took first place in the final event of the Cavalier Invitational to cap a very successful trip to the University of Virginia Saturday evening at the Aquactics and Fitness Center.

The Golden Rams’ team of Matt Golebiewski, Rod King, Josh Pauley and Brendan Fanslau touched the wall in 3:04.23 to take first place. West Chester’s ‘B’ squad finished third.

Fanslau turned in the Rams’ only other top five performance, taking fifth in the 100 freestyle (46.18). Golebiewski placed eighth in the 1650 free (15:58.60), and Matt Flanders was eighth in the 200 backstroke (2:00.00).

13th-ranked Virginia won the event easily with Yale finishing second. West Chester placed third overall, going up against the two Division I powers.
