Stauffer's Two Trys Lift West Chester Over Maryland, 12-10

Box Score

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Sasha Stauffer scored twice, and Megan Lamm converted one of the trys as West Chester held on to defeat Maryland, 12-10, Saturday afternoon in a women's rugby match in College Park.

Maryland scored three times in the first half to take a 10-7 lead into halftime. However, Stauffer managed the only try of the final 40 minutes for either side to give the Golden Rams (2-0) a come-from-behind victory over the Terps.

Stauffer's first try came a little over four minutes into the game. She later got the game-winner midway through the second half in the 67th minute.

Jess Delallo scored a try for Maryland, and Olivia Payne converted that try and added a penalty kick for the hosts' 10 points.

West Chester will prepare for a rematch with Eastern Illinois next Saturday morning on the campus' rugby pitch. The Golden Rams downed the Panthers, 20-19, in the first NCAA sanctioned women's rugby game between two varsity programs a year ago in Illinois.
