WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Kayla Smith scored 27 points and Brooque Williams added 24 as No. 5 California (Pa.) cruised past host West Chester, 80-59, in a non-league PSAC crossover women’s basketball contest inside Hollinger Field House on Saturday.
West Chester (7-3) was harassed by Cal’s relentless defensive pressure into 29 turnovers on the day. Cal (7-2) limited the Golden Rams to just a 25.9 percent shooting effort from the field in the first half as the Vulcans built a 17-point lead it would never relinquish.
Dana Weems led the Rams with 13 points. Dominique Adams posted nine.
West Chester will be back in action Sunday afternoon with a 3 p.m. tilt against Indiana (Pa.) at Hollinger Field House.
