WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Jahzinga Tracey scored a game-high 19 points and Lacey Claar added 12 off the bench to lead visiting eighth-ranked Indiana (Pa.) to a 66-49 victory over host West Chester University in a non-league PSAC crossover women’s basketball contest Sunday inside Hollinger Field House.
West Chester (7-4) dropped its second straight on the weekend to a nationally ranked opponent after falling 80-59 to No. 5 California (Pa.) on Saturday. IUP (9-2) rebounded from its loss at Millersville on Saturday in dominating fashion.
The Crimson Hawks held the Golden Rams to 18 points in the first half to take a seven-point advantage into the break. West Chester managed to shoot just 22 percent in the first 20 minutes and 34 percent for the game (18-for-53).
Freshman guard Shamyra Hammond led the Rams in scoring with a season-best 13 points. She was 4-for-4 from the field and 5 of 6 from the free throw line off the bench. Janelle Garber grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds, but struggled from the floor, shooting just 3 of 12 on the day.
Jill Keefer scored nine points, going 3-for-5 from beyond the 3-point arc. She also was credited with three steals and one blocked shot.
West Chester travels out west next weekend to take on Mercyhurst and Slippery Rock next Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
