SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Janelle Garber scored 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as visiting West Chester ran away from host Shippensburg at the end of the first half en route to a 79-53 victory Wednesday night in PSAC East women’s basketball action.
The Golden Rams (14-6, 6-1 PSAC East) pulled away from the Raiders (10-10, 4-3) with a 25-4 run to close out the first half. West Chester held Shippensburg scoreless over a nine-minute span during the decisive run. The host Raiders shot just 26.1 percent in the first half, making just six field goals, and trailed 38-16 at the break.
West Chester shot 55.9 percent from the field for the contest and hit 11 of 15 attempts from the foul line.
Allison Hostetter netted 14 points and added four assists and five steals to her effort Wednesday night. Megan Stewart scored 12 points for the Golden Rams, who put three players in double figures.
Lauren Beckley scored 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds.
West Chester continues its road trip on Saturday when the Rams travel to Millersville for another PSAC East showdown. West Chester defeated Millersville earlier this season in overtime.
