Box Score

MILLERSVILLE, Pa.
– West Chester University put four players in double figures in kills en route to a come-from-behind 3-1 victory over Millersville in a PSAC East women’s volleyball showdown at Pucillo Gym Friday evening.

West Chester (16-7, 5-7 PSAC East) dropped the opening set, but rebounded to capture the next three in succession to pick up the win, 23-25, 25-18, 25-22, 25-20, over Millersville (10-15, 1-11). With the win, the Golden Rams move to within one game of division-leader Lock Haven and are one-half game behind Kutztown. The Bears moved ahead of West Chester in the standings following its 3-0 sweep over Lock Haven Friday night.

Lexi Kegerise registered a team-high 15 kills while teammates Julie Boblits, Michelle Powers and Kelly Martin each posted 10 kills. Martin added a team-best seven blocks with Powers contributing six and Allison Grammer five. West Chester recorded 15 blocks in all as a team.

Down a set in the second and tied at 14-all, West Chester went on an 11-4 run following a timeout to closeout that second set with a win and even the match at a game apiece. A well-placed timeout in the third set by head coach Kassie Bellaver also led to another come-from-behind win. The Golden Rams trailed 13-10 when Bellaver halted the Marauders’ momentum with the TO. West Chester responded with a 4-1 run to tie the set and swing the pendulum in its direction.

Helen Fitzpatrick registered 38 assists and five blocks to go along with seven digs.

West Chester’s weekend road trip continues on Saturday with a 1 p.m. match at Shippensburg.
