WEST CHESTER, Pa. - West Chester University hung on for a 3-2 win over visiting Millersville in the regular-season finale at Hollinger Field House Saturday in a PSAC women's volleyball match.
West Chester (23-11, 8-11 PSAC) swept the season series from Millersville (14-22, 4-15) by taking Saturday's match with scores of 25-9, 25-22, 23-25, 19-25 and 17-15. The Marauders rallied from dropping the first two sets, then jumped out to a 13-6 advantage in the fifth and deciding set. However, West Chester mounted a furious comeback and averted the upset on Senior Day.
Senior Michelle Powers celebrated her final home match with a team-high 26 kills. Helen Fitzpatrick dished out 58 assists for the Golden Rams. Lisa Campbell had 25 digs to lead the team. Lexi Kegerise bounced back from a sub-par performance on Friday night to register 15 kills for WCU. Kelly Martin posted six blocks to go along with eight kills.
West Chester travels to Lock Haven next Tuesday evening for the quarterfinals of the 2010 PSAC Women's Volleyball postseason tournament.
