WEST CHESTER, Pa. - Four players registered hat tricks as sixth-ranked West Chester University cruised to a 25-6 victory over PSAC East rival Kutztown in its women's lacrosse home opener on a balmy Wednesday afternoon at Vonnie Gros Field.
With temperatures tempting the 70-degree mark, it did not take long for the host Golden Rams to ignite its explosive attack. West Chester (3-0, 1-0 PSAC East) jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first six minutes of the game to take control early over visiting Kutztown (0-3, 0-1).
Devon Lotkowski scored four goals in the second half and assisted on another for five points in the game. Nicole Pyle, Jackie Hoover, and Nicole Haines each added three goals. Shannon Hayes had two goals and four assists for a total of six points.
Kelly Martin (2-0) started and earned the win. She did not have to make a save in the first half. MacKenzie O'Keefe registered one save in the second half.
Kelsey McGoldrick put up four points on the strength of one goal and three assists.
West Chester will host Shippensburg Monday at 4 p.m. in another PSAC East showdown. Monday will be the Golden Rams' Lax 4 Life contest. West Chester will be selling T-shirts and collecting donations throughout the stands during the game.
