LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Senior shortstop Sam Ingersoll repeated as the PSAC Eastern Division player of the week it was announced Tuesday afternoon by the conference. Ingersoll was named the loop’s player of the week last Tuesday in the first week of conference honors.
Though Ingersoll turned in a stellar performance a week ago in being named the PSAC East player of the week, her numbers last week surpassed those of two weeks ago. She is off to a torrid start to the 2010 softball campaign and has West Chester University off to one of its best starts in program history at 9-2.
Ingersoll batted .583 with three more home runs in West Chester’s 4-0 week during its spring break trip. The senior smashed her second grand slam of the season on Sunday in a win over American International College and has now hit a home run in each of West Chester’s last three games.
Ingersoll recorded five RBI in the win over AIC and finished Sunday’s split doubleheader with eight RBI and four runs scored. She has recorded a hit in every game but one so far this season.
Ingersoll is leading the team in hitting with a .529 batting average this season (18-for-34). She has belted six home runs, authored a 1.147 slugging percentage and has driven in a team-leading 23 runs so far this spring.
