WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Visiting Rider University scored four goals in the second half en route to a 5-1 defeat of host West Chester University in a non-league field hockey match at Vonnie Gros Field Friday afternoon.
West Chester (3-5) dropped its fifth straight contest, after opening the season with three victories. Rider University (5-3) was led by Sandra Penas, who scored two goals and registered an assist. The Broncs also received goals from Megan Pisani, Virginia Egusquiza and Jackie Adams in the second half.
The Golden Rams received an unassisted goal from Kate Zunski in the 24th minute of the first half. Zunski now leads the Golden Rams with four goals scored on the year.
Gabby Panasiewicz recorded 10 saves while allowing five goals. Rider’s Rebecca Lotito registered nine saves and gave up one goal for the Broncs. Both Panasiewcz and Lotito went the distance in goal for their teams.
West Chester plays a non-league match against Rutgers at home on Sunday at 1 p.m.
