COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) announced the 32 Division II student-athletes selected by its member coaches as 2025 NFHCA All-America, sponsored by Apex Field Hockey.
Among those honored were West Chester University's
Veerle Hersman (Lisse, The Netherlands),
Gianna Funari (Voorhees, N.J./Bishop Eustace),
Ella Shockley (Delmar, Del./Delmar) and
Caitlin Szarko (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty). Hersman and Funari were first-team selections while Shockley and Szarko were second-team picks. All four are making their first appearance on an All-America team this fall.
Hersman, a first-team all-conference selection and all-region pick last month, scored 16 goals and posted four assists for a total of 36 points. She finished the regular season tied for second in the PSAC in goals and led the conference in shots on goal. She was third in the league in points. Her 16 goals ranked tied for sixth in all of Division II at the conclusion of the season.
Funari, another first-team all-conference selection and all-region pick last month, scored three goals and assisted on two others for a total of eight points for the Golden Rams. She notched one game-winning goal and recorded two defensive saves. The versatile asset for head coach
Amy Cohen played on all three lines at some point during the fall campaign. Traditionally a back on defense, Funari saw considerable time both in the midfield and up top at forward. She was implemented wherever Cohen needed her.
Shockley, a first-team all-region pick and second-team All-PSAC selection, anchored the Golden Rams' back line for the fourth consecutive year. She still managed two goals and two assists for a total of six points. She scored one game-winning goal, that coming in the quarterfinals of the PSAC Tournament against IUP in double overtime. She also was credited with a defensive save.
Szarko put together a stella campaign in her senior season adding second team All-PSAC and all-region citations to her awards last month. She scored seven goals and added six assists for a total of 20 points on the year. She was also named to the NCAA Division II All-Tournament team following the National Championship Game. She was asked to play a larger role in the offense with the graduation of West Chester's top three goal scorers from a year ago. Szarko turned in career highs in both goals and points as a result.
