WEST CHESTER, Pa. – West Chester University star midfielder,
Veerle Hersman (Lisse, The Netherlands), was named the 2025 Philly-SIDA Academic All-Area Field Hockey team it was announced Monday. Hersman is one of 13 student-athletes selected to the Philly-SIDA Academic All-Area Field Hockey Team. The team is voted on by the athletic communications offices from 30 institutions in the Philadelphia metropolitan area.
Hersman enjoyed a break-out campaign in 2025 as one of the top scoring threats in all of Division II. She was such an electric offensive threat in the midfield, scoring 16 goals and posting four assists for a total of 36 points. She finished the regular season tied for second in the PSAC in goals and led the conference in shots on goal. She was third in the league in points. Her 16 goals ranked tied for sixth in all of Division II. Hersman was also a first-team All-PSAC pick along with Funari.
The academic recognition goes along with her athletic achievements in the postseason which has seen her walk away with first-team All-PSAC plaudits and National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) All-Region accolades.
