West Chester Women Race Past Shippensburg, 79-61

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Mary Kate Serratelli poured in a career-high 20 points, and West Chester University put all five starters in double figures to down host Shippensburg University, 79-61, Thursday evening at Heigis Field House.

West Chester (13-4, 4-1 PSAC East) pulled into a tie for first place with Bloomsburg while Shippensburg (8-9, 3-2) saw its three-game winning streak come to an end as a result of the loss.

Serratelli carried the hot hand all evening, shooting 8-for-10 from the field and dropping 13 of her 20 points in the first half to help the Golden Rams take control of the tilt. For the game, West Chester shot 47.5 percent (29 of 61) from the field, including 35.7 percent (5 of 14) from 3-point range.

Megan Stewart scored 16 points, Allison Hostetter had 11 points and eight rebounds and Alex Lennon and Jillian Keefer each put up 10 points.

Shippensburg’s Kasey Gardner was held to 12 points while Monae Baker led all Raiders with 14 points and nine boards.

West Chester returns to action on Saturday with a first-place showdown with Bloomsburg on the road. Tip is set for 1 p.m.
