MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – Ambreelinne Ortman scored 14 points while Allison Hostetter and Shamyra Hammond each tallied 13 points to lead West Chester to a key 61-59 victory over host Millersville in a PSAC East women’s basketball matchup Saturday afternoon inside Pucillo Gym.
West Chester remains tied for first place in the PSAC East standings at 7-3 in league play and 11-3 overall. Millersville falls to 5-4 in the league and 8-5 overall.
Millersville hit a jumper with five seconds left to pull within two and then forced a turnover with two ticks left. Following a timeout by the Marauders, Mashira Newman’s 3-point attempt was off the mark, and West Chester escaped with the 61-59 win.
Alex Lennon hit a layup with 41 seconds left to give WCU a five-point lead (59-54) and then nailed a pair of free throws with 16 seconds left to push the advantage back to four (61-57).
