Women's Basketball Runs Win Streak to Four Straight, 63-58

Box Score

WEST CHESTER, Pa. - Host West Chester received 15 points apiece from Allison Hostetter and Alex Lennon as the Golden Rams held on for a 63-58 victory over visiting Shippensburg in a PSAC East women's basketball showdown inside Hollinger Field House Wednesday evening.

The win keeps West Chester (12-3, 8-3 PSAC) in a tie for first place in the Eastern Division with Bloomsburg as the two colllide Saturday afternoon at Hollinger. Both stand at 8-3 in conference play - one game ahead of Millersville. Shippensburg (7-8, 4-7) made a good run in the late stages of the second half, but could not complete the comeback.

With the Rams clinging to a slim 32-31 advantage at the break, the hosts came out in the second half on fire. West Chester ran off a 15-0 spurt over the next nine minutes to take a 47-33 lead. However, Shippensburg answered with a 17-3 run of its own over the next seven minutes to close the gap back to three, 56-53.

West Chester would not let them get any closer than that and escaped Hollinger with the "W".

Hostetter posted a double-double by adding 10 rebounds to her game totals. West Chester forced the Raiders into 26 turnovers, scoring 18 points off those miscues.

Ambreelinne Ortman scored 11 points for West Chester.

The Golden Rams return home Saturday afternoon for its biggest contest of the season so far. Bloomsburg invades Hollinger Field House at 1 p.m. in a battle for first place in the divisional standings. It is the first of two regular-season meetings this season between the division rivals.
