ERIE, Pa. – Tori Dugan, Jamie Dolan and MacKenzie O’Keefe each registered a hat trick as visiting West Chester ran out to a 10-1 lead and never looked back in a 17-7 PSAC women’s lacrosse victory at Mercyhurst Saturday night.
West Chester (5-1, 3-1 PSAC) rebounded quite well, after dropping its first contest of the season at Bloomsburg last Sunday. Mercyhurst (5-4, 3-1) dropped its first league contest of the year.
The Golden Rams scored four goals in the first eight minutes of the game to take a 4-0 lead. Dugan scored the first goal and assisted on the second. Lauren Glassey then tallied the first of her two on the night, before Oczkowski did the same.
After Mercyhurst’s Anna Lagrett put the hosts on the board, West Chester rattled off six unanswered markers to take control of the match. That run was highlighted by a natural hat trick from O’Keefe, who scored three straight times in the first half.
Jess Henderson (5-1) made nine saves in the game to register the win in the cage.
West Chester stays in Erie, Pa., tomorrow for a 2 p.m. makeup game against Gannon, which was rained out Friday afternoon.
