LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – West Chester University’s nationally ranked women’s lacrosse program finishes up its preparation for the 2012 PSAC Women’s Lacrosse Tournament this weekend. The Golden Rams play Bloomsburg University in the semifinals on Friday at 4 p.m. at Lock Haven’s Charlotte E. Smith Field.
Tickets to the 2012 PSAC Women’s Lacrosse Championships are $7 for adults and $2 for children. Students from PSAC member institutions with valid school ID are admitted free. No complimentary tickets are available.
West Chester (14-2) dropped its regular-season contest against Bloomsburg (10-7), 14-13, in double-overtime. The Golden Rams are out to avenge that setback and advance to the championship game for the 12th consecutive year.
Lock Haven hosts Mercyhurst at 1 p.m. in the other semifinal. The two semifinal winners meet on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the championship game. West Chester and Lock Haven have played for the conference crown in each of the last six seasons.
The Golden Rams are in search of their conference record 21st title this weekend, but first since 2008. Lock Haven has won the PSAC championship in each of the last three seasons.
This year’s senior class goes for the conference crown for the final time. Only two classes at West Chester have failed to win at least one PSAC title in their four years, and it has not happened since 1991. The only other class to come up short was the Class of 1982.
