ERIE, Pa. – West Chester University’s men’s soccer squad allowed a late goal, falling to No. 4 Gannon, 1-0, in a PSAC contest Saturday afternoon.
The Golden Rams (3-4-2, 2-1-1 PSAC) continued their improved play, but a goal from the Golden Knights (9-0, 5-0 PSAC) was all Gannon needed to survive the scare from West Chester.
After late game heroics against Mercyhurst yesterday, Garrett Bleiler stood against a potent Gannon lineup, stopping 12 of the 13 shots put on goal. West Chester had a lot of good looks at the net, but were unable to get anything by goalkeeper, Jason Barbarino.
Christian Benner registered two shots while Peter Mais, John Frederick and Dan Venuto each contributed a shot on goal for the Golden Rams.
The Golden Rams kept the game scoreless until the 78th minute where Gannon was able to hit the back of the net.
The Golden Rams return home this Thursday to face Philadelphia University at 7:00 p.m. in Farrell Stadium.
